Kindness Rock Spread Mental Health Awareness

COVID Recovery Iowa and the Kindness Rock project want Iowans to get out their brightest markers and paint pens to spread joy and help raise awareness for mental health. The statewide effort is gaining popularity on COVID Recovery Iowa's social media platforms. The group embraces the original purpose of kindness rocks: To cultivate connections within communities and lift others up through simple acts of kindness.

A blood drive will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Virginia Gay Hospital. The event will take place in the Hospital Cafeteria from 1:45 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The hospital is located at 502 N. 9th Ave. in Vinton.Blood donation with LifeServe Blood Center is a quick and painless process. The entire donation experience only takes about an hour and includes registration, a questionnaire, mini-physical, the actual donation, and refreshment in the snack area afterward!A simple donation can save the lives of three local hospital patients.

Free Resilience Webinars Offer Parents Help During the Pandemic

Parenting is tough. Parenting during a pandemic is even tougher. This is why Worldmaker International, a resilience educational organization,  and the Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) are teaming up to offer a Pandemic Parenting Webinar Series. For three Thursdays in May, resilience experts from Worldmaker and CRCSD will cover topics identified in a survey as being pressing issues for local parents.
