The Moderna Vaccine Walk-in Clinic will be held at the Virginia Gay HospitalMonday, August 23 - 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Tuesday, August 24 - 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.Wednesday, August 25 - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.Friday, August 27 - 9:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m.Anyone 18 years and older, no cost.MUST be able to return the week of September 13-17 for the second vaccine.

FDA Approves First COVID-19 Vaccine

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised individuals.

COVID-19 vaccines are effective against the variants that are currently circulating, so all eligible people are urged to get vaccinated. Getting vaccinated protects against the current virus strains and decreases the chances of a vaccine-resistant variant developing in the future.
